“Elsie” was custom-built by Ellis Boat Company with a unique Herreshoff-style interior and nearly 500 square feet of living space. The vessel sleeps four down below with a v-berth and over-under bunks. There is also a spacious head and a separate stand-up shower. A settee in the shelter converts to an extra berth for a crew of five (scroll to the bottom of this page for details on this setup). The spacious galley is in the main saloon area, where the cook can mingle with guests as they enjoy the sights. Solar panels keep the refrigerator and freezer cold without running the generator. The flybridge includes three seats, a padded bench, and a bimini top, so everyone can enjoy the views in the shade with an unrestricted 360-degree view. The Captain will enjoy navigating the boat from the top side (dodging the Maine lobster pots = easy from the bridge). There is ample space to tie down an SUP or kayak and/or some folding bikes (bring yours – they are not provided). The 440 Yanmar allows the yacht to cruise in the mid-teens with a low fuel burn rate. Remote anchorages, e.g., Roque Island, are only 4 hours away, and most outer islands and sites in Penobscot Bay are under 3 hours away. In less-than-ideal weather, the boat can be driven from below. New Garmin plotters with Radar and AIS are installed at both helm stations. Bow and stern thrusters make docking a breeze. 200 ft of chain and the windlass allow for easy anchoring. Other features include a generator, heat and air conditioning, propeller shaft cutters, an inflatable tender with an electric motor, a transom door, and a swim platform with a ladder. Tankage: 100-gallon water, 210-gallon fuel, 30-gallon waste tank with macerator. Specs: LOA= 40’2”. Beam=13’2”. Draft= 3’10.”

Note that the dining and sleeping arrangements prevent you from accessing the lower helm. We will be set up for Cruising on your arrival and can show you how to set up for dining and sleeping if needed.
